Compatible filament with MasterSpool

Introduction

Richard Horne came up with the idea of the Masterspool in order to solve a problem: filaments are delivered on disposable spools. Those spools costs money to produce. Their weight is quite high in comparison to the material itself (around 20%). When you buy a spool, the shop has to pay for the 20% extra weight, in some cases making the shipment cost exceed that of the filament....

The Masterspool is a 3D printed spool that can be reused almost endlessly. The design is released under Common Creative Attribution licence. You can find the original 3D models onĀ Thingiverse or Youmagine. Alternate designs also exists like the Twist and Lock version
